A True Dilemma

Some friends of mine told me they had an old trash can that was all gross and the handle had broken off so they wanted to get rid of it.  This then raised the great philosophical question of our day.  How, exactly, do you go about throwing away a trash can?  Because garbagemen are used to emptying out the can and leaving it behind.  They aren't in the habit of taking trash cans with them.  So do you leave a note on the can saying "I am trash.  Take me."?  Or do you try to fit the trash can into a bigger trash can?  Inquiring minds want to know.
